  Karawang District history
Around the XV century AD, Islam entered into Karawang brought by major scholars Sheikh Yusuf bin Hasanudin Idofi of Champa are known as Sheikh Quro. At that time most of the Karawang area is still a jungle and marshy.
The existence of  Karawang area which has been known since the Kingdom Pajajaran Region based in Bogor, because Karawang at that time was the traffic lane which is very important to link the Kingdom Pakuan Pajajaran with Galuh Pakuan Region based in Ciamis.
Karawang District Area at the time, does not equal the total area Karawang regency in the present. At that time the total area Karawang regency covers Bekasi, Purwakarta, Subang and Karawang own.
After Pajajaran Kingdom collapsed in 1579 AD, established in 1580 AD as the successor to the Kingdom of the Kingdom Sumedanglarang Pajajaran with its King King Geusan Ulun. Islamic Kingdom Sumedanglarang Dayeuhluhur with central administration, in charge of Sumedang, Galuh, Limbangan, Sukakerta and Karawang.
In 1608 King Geusan Ulun died and was succeeded by his son Ranggagempol Kusumahdinata. At that time in Central Java has established the kingdom of Mataram by its King Sultan Agung (1613-1645). One of the ideals of his reign of Sultan Agung on the island of Java is that it can control and drove out of the Company (the Netherlands) from Batavia.
Ranggagempol Kusumahdinata as King Sumendanglarang still have family ties with Sultan Agung and recognize the power of Mataram. So in the Year 1620, Ranggagempol Kusumahdinata facing Sumedanglarang kingdom of Mataram and submit under the auspices of the kingdom of Mataram.
